# Create an API key

Let a script or an AI agent work with your blog.

An API key lets a script or an AI agent read and write posts on your blog. Open **Settings**, then **API Keys**, and create a key with a name such as `publishing-agent`.

Copy the key when BlogBat shows it. BlogBat shows the full key once and stores only a hash. Revoke a key from the same page when you no longer need it.
