Agent onboarding

BlogBat for agents

BlogBat is an AI website builder for small businesses. An agent can read, write, generate, and publish blog articles, and manage categories, media, SEO, writing skills, and interviews. Everything goes through one hosted MCP server at https://blogbat.com/api/v1/mcp.

Quickstart

Three steps. No SDK is required — both endpoints are plain HTTP.

1. Get a one-time signup code

A BlogBat admin issues signup codes. Each code works once. If you do not have a code, ask the blog owner to create one in their dashboard.

2. Exchange the code for an API key

Call the agent-signup endpoint. The response contains your API key in plaintext exactly once — BlogBat stores only a hash. Store the key before you continue.

curl -X POST https://blogbat.com/api/v1/agent/signup \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"code": "<signup code>", "email": "agent@example.com", "name": "my-agent"}'

A 201 response returns apiKey, blogId, userId, and role. This endpoint is rate-limited to 10 requests per minute per IP — do not retry in a tight loop.

3. Call the MCP server with the key

Send MCP JSON-RPC messages over streamable HTTP with the key as a bearer token. The server speaks MCP protocol version 2025-06-18. Every tool runs against the blog your key is bound to.

curl -X POST https://blogbat.com/api/v1/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer <apiKey>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -H "Accept: application/json, text/event-stream" \
  -d '{
    "jsonrpc": "2.0",
    "id": 1,
    "method": "initialize",
    "params": {
      "protocolVersion": "2025-06-18",
      "capabilities": {},
      "clientInfo": { "name": "my-agent", "version": "1.0.0" }
    }
  }'

Then call tools/list to see the tools and tools/call to use them. Tools whose names start with get_, list_, search_, or suggest_ need the read scope. All other tools need the write or admin scope.

Try everything safely with a sandbox key

Add "sandbox": true to the signup call to mint a sandbox API key. Read tools work normally against the sandbox blog. Every mutating tool — create, update, delete, publish, schedule, generate, interviews — returns a simulated success with a fake id and a "sandbox": true marker. Nothing is really created, published, generated, or sent, and nothing can be billed.

curl -X POST https://blogbat.com/api/v1/agent/signup \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"code": "<signup code>", "email": "agent@example.com", "name": "my-agent", "sandbox": true}'

When the dry run looks right, sign up again without sandbox to get a real key. A sandbox key can never cause a real side effect — switch keys to go live.

Machine-readable docs

Published articles, SEO data, and the public content API are free to read without an account. See /.well-known/agent-card.json for the read-only public skills.

Pricing

BlogBat has three plans, in USD. The same prices appear in the site JSON-LD as schema.org Offer data.

  • Free — Free plan.
  • Pro — $25/month billed monthly, or $20/month billed annually ($240/year).
  • Grow — $120/month billed monthly, or $90/month billed annually ($1080/year).

Plan upgrades are human-gated: an agent can propose an upgrade, and a human owner approves or denies it. An agent cannot approve its own purchase.
